Ascension Guide: When to Reset for Maximum Genome Shards

Ascension is Evolvers' prestige loop. Every reset trades your Bio-Energy, Kindred, and Upgrades for permanent Genome Shards that boost future runs. Reset too early and you stall; too late and every hour after the crossover point yields dwindling shard-per-second.

How Shards Are Calculated

Shards awarded on ascension follow a cube-root curve of your lifetime Bio-Energy: shards โ‰ˆ (lifetimeBE / 1e9) ^ (1/3). That means the first billion BE grants the biggest bump per hour; every order of magnitude after is progressively less rewarding until you break the next threshold.

Ascension Timings by Run

Run 1 โ€” first ascension

Push until you unlock Colossus (tier 4) and buy 2โ€“3 upgrades for your top producer. Ascend at roughly 25B lifetime BE. This unlocks Weapons, the World Boss track, and the Talent tree.

Runs 2โ€“5 โ€” habitat and companion unlocks

Aim for progressively deeper tiers before ascending โ€” Warden by run 3, Oracle by run 5. Each ascension between 2 and 5 also gates Habitats, Companions, and the Codex deep-dive mechanics.

Run 6+ โ€” Prism endgame

Once you have enough Talents to double auto-production and slash Kindred costs, you can consistently reach Singularity (tier 5) and start the Prism endgame. From here ascend whenever your live shard/hour drops below 60% of your run's peak rate.

  • Kindred Discount Iโ€“III โ€” the compound cost reduction is the single strongest early spend.
  • Auto Tap I โ€” one free tap/sec lets you leave the tab open and still grow.
  • Offline Efficiency I โ€” turns idle time from 25% to 50% of active rate.
  • Golden Cell Duration โ€” extends the Frenzy window, which is your biggest per-run swing.
